Claire Voillequé
Actor
Year you started living or working on Orange County: Since 2021
Neighborhood: Huntington Beach/Fountain Valley
Hometown: Portland, OR
What inspires you as an artist?
Noises Off is always an inspiration for me comedically! I had the pleasure of seeing the original cast of Hadestown in New York and I am thrilled to see a strong resurgence in the love of musicals, especially since the Wicked movie! Also, Étoile is remarkable, I have been inspired to start dancing ballet again.
Who are or were your theatrical heroes?
Andre de Shields. The incomparable Patti LuPone, whom I got to see in The Roommate last year and knocked my socks off. Carol Burnette, of course. And seeing Bernadette Peters perform in a Cabaret at a young age cemented my love for theater and the desire to make a career out of this beautiful artform.
What kind of theatre excites you?
Comedies about real people trying their best, new works that subvert expectations, pieces that play with time/non-linear storytelling, and many more!
Outside of a theatre, what’s your favorite hot spot in Orange County?
My favorite hotspot in Orange County is honestly Mile Square Regional Park. It is always bustling, and it is great for people-watching, getting a workout in on the exercise path, or just enjoying the sunshine. So many free community events happen there, and it is a big boost for the community.
