What inspires you as an artist?
Connection, community, and the opportunity to understand humanity just a little bit more

Tell us a story from your childhood that illuminates who you are as an artist?
I’ll never forget my first assignment in a class I never wanted. I got up an had to read a monologue to the whole class. I’ve spoke in front of classes before, book reports and such, but never like this. I performed the piece, our teacher came up after getting the room to clap and pointed out a line and asked me “have you ever felt this way or been in this emotion before?” I told him I have so he suggested I take a look at the piece and sort of relate to the words with when I’ve felt this way before then say them. I’ve always applied this to my process of accessing familiar bits of humanity in my life to breathe it into the character on display.

Who are or were your theatrical heroes?
Mr. Antonio Moon. The first person to believe I had something I’d never know otherwise. He’s carried my passion since the day he made me audition for the high school play.

What kind of theatre excites you?
Comedy, practical and “live” sets, drama, interconnected characters, dueling conflicts, focused themes. I love bold vibrant takes on classics, attempts to elevate what’s been done before.

Outside of a theatre, what’s your favorite hot spot in Orange County?
Baseball games, concerts at live nation, and in a sucker for in n out of course
